The first national general secretary of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi
Himanshu Tiwari was appointed National General Secretary of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi by party president and then Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on 1 March 2023 - the first such appointment made as the party carried its politics beyond Telangana. He came to it the long way: from a freedom fighter's family in Jaunpur, through the farm-law agitation, on the national executive of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha.

Through the year-long agitation against the three farm laws, he worked with the United Kisan Morcha and served on the national executive of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha - the coalition that carried the protest from the state borders to the national capital.

Appointed National General Secretary, BRS
BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao named him general secretary of the party - the first appointment of its kind as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi became the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and began organising outside the state.

Roots
He is the great-grandson of Pt. Mata Prasad Tiwari, a freedom fighter, from the village of Pali-Subhashpur in Madiyahun, Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh. It is a household in which politics was never a career first - it was an inheritance of obligation.
That inheritance explains the route he took into public life: not through an office, but through a movement, standing with farmers when the question was whether the countryside would be heard at all.
